  • The City of Modesto opened Jenny’s Place, a new housing project at 710 N. 9th Street (with 54 units including a manager’s unit) to help individuals experiencing homelessness, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be held on May 29th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for community members to join the celebration.  City of Modesto

CRIME NEWS

  • Mykal Parsons, the former Gold Professional at Elkhorn Golf Club, was arrested on May 8 for Grand Theft and Embezzlement after investigators found he embezzled $147,000 between 2022 and 2024—he is now held in jail.  FOX40

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Modesto released its Draft 2025-2030 Consolidated Plan, 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan, and Proposed updates to the Citizen Participation Plan for Housing and Urban Development programs for public review—officials say the documents show how the city will use funds from HUD including Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnership, and Emergency Solutions Grant from July 1 to June 30.  City of Modesto
  • The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office released its annual report yesterday that showed priority one call response times dropped from nearly eight and a half minutes to seven minutes—officials credited the improvement to daily helicopter support while noting a 29% increase in proactive patrols and slight delays in Waterford and Patterson due to safety protocols.  CBS News Sacramento
