➤ Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputy Israel Morales was arrested on Tuesday after a months-long investigation into claims he engaged in on-duty sexual misconduct in Hughson, with charges including forced oral copulation and kidnapping, and he was booked on $1.3M bail + his peace officer powers were removed on May 6. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

➤ After a cool Memorial Day weekend and slight warming on Tuesday, Northern California is bracing for a dangerous heat wave. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch from Friday at 11:00 a.m. until Saturday at 11:00 p.m.—triple-digit highs and limited overnight cooling are expected until seasonable weather returns by Monday. ➤ East Bay Municipal Utility District banned most boat launches, kayaks and paddleboards at Lake Camanche to stop the invasive golden mussel from entering its water system+local businesses report a drop in visitor numbers.
