- ➤ Modesto Fire Department fought a fast-spreading fire along the south bank of the Tuolumne River on Thursday afternoon that forced evacuations and sheltering for 12 people from four homes as crews battled 3 acres of burning vegetation with limited access due to wind and steep terrain. FOX40
