GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Modesto City Council approved a $14.6 million overhaul of 9th Street that will replace stoplights with three roundabouts — adding improvements for bicycles and pedestrians at key intersections. Construction will begin later this year, with roundabouts opening by summer and the project wrapping up by early 2027. CBS News Sacramento
- ➤ City of Modesto held a public input workshop Tuesday evening at Greens on Tenth to gather residents' ideas for redeveloping the block that includes the old courthouse, Hall of Records, and former jail. City officials said they are considering plans that blend housing, ground-floor shops and an open-air market with a public-private partnership after the county moves to its new courthouse by early 2026—residents stressed the need to preserve the Hall of Records.
