A once-empty lot behind Church of the Cross in north Modesto became a thriving community garden with over 140 plots managed by a nonprofit led by Everett Leon-Guerrero.
Gardeners pay $50 a year for water, shared tools, and waste disposal—while growing diverse produce and enjoying a mural by a local student.
🏛️ Government
The Weekly Traffic Impact Report for the week of October 9, 2025 detailed several road projects with lane closures, detours, and night work on Scenic Drive, Sisk Road, Coffee Road and other streets, causing delays with work continuing through early 2026 and even into March 2027.
Motorists are urged to drive slowly and use alternate routes with night work on Coffee Road scheduled from October 12—16.
