Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 11th of October.
Good morning, Modesto.
🎭 Culture
Modesto is reimagining its Day of the Dead celebration after longtime organizer Rebecca Ortega Harrington died earlier this year, leaving a legacy that brought thousands together downtown.
The city will host Between Two Worlds at the McHenry Museum on October 17 and 18 — featuring cultural history, dancers, live music and a lowrider car show that her son said honors her memory.
🏥 Health
Stanislaus County nurses have warned that long 13-hour shifts and few breaks are causing a staffing crisis that forces experienced nurses away from patient care—doctors and nursing faculty at local hospitals are urging better funding and improved working conditions to keep patients safe. They noted that record hospital profits have come at the cost of safe and adequate staffing, prompting calls for changes in health care management.
