➤ An animal rescue group found up to 80 abandoned Chihuahuas in a Modesto rental home on November 25 and began rescuing them with volunteer help. They rescued 26 dogs while 19 remain — foster homes and donations are needed for urgent veterinary care. CBS News Sacramento

SPORTS NEWS

➤ Modesto’s new Pioneer League baseball team changed its name from 'Glo Riders' to Roadsters on Monday — the old name will now be used only once a week after a strong backlash from fans. Team owner Dave Heller said the change reflects local car culture and players look forward to taking the field in the spring. CBS Sacramento
